The bell coils on my 300 series phones are 500 ohms apiece- the reason they're not officially liked these days is because of the high ring current needed. Both of mine have 3Kohm resistors fitted *somewhere* in the circuit so that other phones will still ring with them, although I've forgotten now which terminals it goes across.
