What's the carb on a Viva? Stromberg? If it's a hot _starting_ problem (rather than hot-running) then I'm thinking carb. Strombergs aren't noted for it though - puzzling.
Is the ignition ballasted like a '70s Ford with a full-power bypass when starting? That could give a hot-start problem?
