Does gasifier viability depend on the mixture of "trash" you have to work with? WW2 gasifiers were mostly running on wood AFAIK, and were supposed to be a bit species-sensitive for what worked best. Does a modern "trash" of mixed plastics and a bit of kebab work as well, or does it need a more sophisticated gasifier to get those tasty hydrocarbons? Cow or pig slurry (I've done cow!) work great, but the liquid content makes them unportable.

Maybe it's time for a new Mad Max film, where gasifier-powered vehicles hunt down Mel Gibson, just for being such a git. Wouldn't even need to set it in the future, let's just do it.
