I didn't realise...
Jan. 14th, 2005 05:43 pm....that the Battlestar Galactica series had premiered in the UK. I kinda presumed it'd been shown in 'merkia first. So I guess when they find out that Starbuck's a Cylon, that'll really shock them; but not as much as the affair between the president and Starbuck....
It's actually one of the few recent sci-fi series I've watched with real enthusiasm; perhaps because it is really a story with sci-fi, not the other way round. I mean, when I was 7 StarTrek was cool, but now, now it's just kinda jaded.

Because it doesn't have lame stories as an excuse to do sci-fi stuff. They are excellent stories, in a sci-fi setting, but would work in any setting. They are character driven stories, with engaging characters.
Unlike shows like Star Trek, there is no techno-babble, no static characters, and no boring same-old same-old routine.
It's unpredictable, fast paced, wildly funny, weird, sexy, endearing, poignant, heartbreakingly tragic, and just very very very good.
The acting is top notch, the writing is amazing, and the production values make it all look like an hour of film each week.
The characters also shoot and blow stuff up. A lot. Like a whole lot. It's really their specialty. They are by and large all fuck ups, but as the rest of the galaxy learns, they can blow shit up real good.
Also... there are a billion hot chicks in it. And one wears lots of leather.
Aeryn Sun is so my girl. So my girl. So my girl.
*blinkblinkblink*
Ok, yes, I am a fan boy.

Date: 2005-01-20 01:35 am (UTC)And I lucked out; "33" was the first episode, right? They reran it yesterday so I got to see it. Not sure what I think of the show just yet - I'd never seen the original, either.
