I do enjoy your entries and miss them when you are too busy to write. I'm surprised you found time to write this if you're doing NanoWriMo!

Luckily I have (so far) never had to deal with Artex, though quite a few of the walls in this house had a coat of very hard cement render that needed to be painstakingly chiseled off while doing as little damage as possible to the soft, loose old brickwork underneath. There was a time when people thought cement was a wonder-material that could consolidate and strengthen crumbly old masonry. Unfortunately it doesn't really work like that. The hardness and impermeability of the cement often accelerates and hides the deterioration of the masonry underneath.

Feel free to ignore this question if it's too personal/nosy, but how will you decide which of you is to receive the IVF?
