Dumb questions
Aug. 15th, 2011 03:43 pmSo, in a change of tack I recently bought my first four-stroke motorcycle. A mid 80s Kawasaki GT-550. Coming from the MZ fleet which I've run for the past 8 years it looks to be a bit of a change. Just wheeling it into the garage proved to be a shock - used as I am to teeny lightweight zeds. I picked up a workshop manual at the same time as the bike but it leaves one question completely unanswered, which is a bugger,'cos it's a stupid question - and despite my friends with car-mechanic experience, and my rebuilt multiple MZ's experience, I've not managed to sus it out. So, hanging my head low I have to as because I can't work out how to get access to the battery!
I'm assuming it's under the seat but can't see how the seat bolts/locks on. Any advice to the flummoxed ex-MZer would be really appreciated!

If you can't see what holds it down, can you see the other half of the question - is there any hinge or retaining hook visible? The catch you then need to deal with would then presumably be at the opposite side of the seat from that.
