So how do I laser cut that?...

That's basically my problem. If I could make it I would... I'm thinking the easiest / simplest way is to make it from layers of MDF glued together then sanded and painted. But I have no means of making multiple layers of the same shape of suitable thickness (although, yes, I could get multiple laser cut ellipsis made. I wonder how much that'd cost).

...damnit, why did you say that, now I'm thinking about CNC milling and laser cutting of MDF. I was unhappily resigned to not having it, now I'm suddenly stuck with 'well, you *could* have it if you work a bit'.

Gaaah. I hate my brain. *Now* I've got as far as 'well, Illustrator (or !Draw on the RiscPC) could turn standard text shapes into vector drawings, then you could probably import them into a CAD package and make a nice shiny file that you could hand to a CNC/Laser cutting place, who could cut you out a couple of layers of MDF, and you could then bond them together, sand, fill, sand, paint and lo, you have the thing you want'.

DAMN YOU.

I was all set just to live with it and get some plain brackets. Gaaah.
