Okay, they're not abandoned, but looking at some of the interior detail you'd be hard pushed to tell. Here's my photoshoot from Bristol North Baths; alledgedly they're due to close next month, which will leave me deeply pissed off.
They're beautiful - and as you can see - they're pretty much exactly the way they were built. I've not included the shots, but it's still got it's chimney and boiler rooms from way-back-when. Also, a detail I noticed while swimming is the original 'Emergency Exit' painted signs still adorning the walls above the newer cubicles.

And some interior shots... and no, the duck was not planted, that's where I found it.

And finally, some interior details:

Date: 2005-08-13 11:47 am (UTC)My impression of Britain, is that's it's full of all this cool old stuff, but nobody can actually afford to keep any of it. You guys need to cut some expenses or generate more revenue. Fire your royal family or something. That could save you a few bucks. Maybe you can you grab new colony? You know, get some of that old imperial black magic going. You could probably conquer Canada, I think. They'd probably be really polite about it and all. "Oh, no trouble. We understand, eh. Revenues down and all."
I am going to guess these flurry of pics indicate a relatively better mood?

Date: 2005-08-14 06:28 am (UTC)We were considering < href="http://www.stephaniemiller.com/declarationofrevocation.htm">rescinding your declaration of independence, back when you first elected Bush - but then we realised we'd elected a nutter too... so we had to let you off on that one ;-)
And my mood? Well, it's one of those things, innit. :-)
No, more seriously, I get down at my parents, for obvious reasons, but when I'm back at home then I find it hard to stay down - even whilst facing a financial and travel crisis. :-/

I've just enjoyed reading your site - particularly the Moggy Minor. I found it from the Coniston mine picture.
(Oh, and there's some gas welding kit here if you're still in need - probably MIG too)

Date: 2005-08-14 06:16 am (UTC)I ought to update the stuff about Rebecca, and Claire actually - what with claire currently spread about the garage in pieces and Rebecca having had *loads* more bits done - and some history found...
And Gas Welding kit? MIG gas welding kit..... *opens eyes widely and looks questioningly*
